DES MOINES – The Miracle League Kiwanis field will be the host of the 10th annual Run for Ronald on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa will team up with the Kiwanis Miracle League for a day of fun and activities at the Miracle League, Greater Des Moines Community Foundation Field located at 529 SW 5th Street, just west of Principal Park.  Additional parking available at Principal Park on 3rd Street.

Registration for the 5K and 10K run/walk will start at 7:00 am on Saturday, May 15, 2010 with the run beginning at 8:00 am.  The Altoona Kiwanis Club will be sponsoring an all you can eat pancake breakfast from 7:00 am – 10:30 am for spectators.   The cost will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.

Over 180 children and youth ranging in age from six to eighteen are ready to play baseball on a specially built field just for them!  The Kiwanis Miracle League 2010 opening day ceremonies will start at 11:15 am with a dedication of the Jacobson Pavilion and memorial garden; with the first pitch to follow.
The Miracle League offers accessible recreational opportunities for children with special needs so that they can participate in a team sport as a member of an organized baseball team.   The Miracle League field is constructed of a cushioned rubberized turf to help prevent injuries, and a completely flat surface to eliminate any barriers to wheelchair bound or visually impaired players.
